William F. Grieco Brings Legal Expertise to Acadia Healthcare Board

William F. Grieco has served as an independent director at Acadia Healthcare since November 2011, bringing more than three decades of legal and compliance expertise to the behavioral health provider. His appointment provided the board with deep healthcare industry knowledge and general business acumen developed across multiple sectors.

Grieco began his legal career as a partner in the Healthcare Department at Choate, Hall & Stewart, a general service law firm. This foundation in healthcare law informed his subsequent roles as general counsel at several healthcare and technology companies, including Fresenius Medical Care North America, where he served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel from 1995 to 1999.

Healthcare Information Technology Leadership

From 2001 to 2002, William F. Grieco served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of IDX Systems Corporation, a healthcare information technology company. He then moved to American Science and Engineering, Inc., an x-ray inspection technology company, where he held the senior vice president and general counsel role from 2003 to 2008.

His experience spans dialysis services, healthcare IT, and medical technology, providing a broad perspective on regulatory compliance and legal frameworks across healthcare subsectors. This diverse background has proven valuable for his board service at the behavioral health company.

Consulting and Advisory Work

Since 2008, William F. Grieco has served as Managing Director of Arcadia Strategies, LLC, a legal and business consulting organization servicing healthcare, science, and technology companies. This ongoing consulting work keeps him engaged with current healthcare industry trends and regulatory developments.

At Acadia Healthcare, Grieco’s understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks has made him a valuable asset to the board. He has also served on the board of Echo Therapeutics, a medical device and specialty pharmaceutical company, since February 2011.
